Father's Day Craft

With Father’s Day around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about what fun crafts you want to work on with your little one to give as a gift to their dad or grandparent! What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than by creating a heartfelt craft that shows the fathers in your life just how special they are?

It’s so special to create a handmade, sentimental gift, I always think they are the best ones to receive. Especially when our little ones grow up so quickly, it’s precious to have a little moment in time captured with a handmade craft of theirs.

Below I’m going to share with you an insanely cute dinosaur handprint Father’s Day craft. I even have a free printable download you can use so all you need to do is print your kiddo’s hand on the paper and you’re ready to go! I’ll go through a step-by-step process on how to best tackle getting there and you’ll be on your way to completing this super easy, cute, and sentimental craft for Father’s Day!

1. Print the Free Download

If you’re looking to gift this to more than just your little one’s father (think grandfather’s as well!), fear not! Here at Happy Moms Club, we have you covered. Here are some other ones you can download as well that are suited for stepfathers and grandfathers!

2. Imprint the Hand

Grab your favorite trusty washable paint – our favorite is this non-toxic, washable set of 12 paint colors kit from Amazon! You can use any color you’d like to create your masterpiece, we chose green for ours. Paint and gently place your child’s hand onto the paper and voila! Easy-peasy.

We have done so many handprint crafts and we have the perfect system now. Usually, when we do these crafts, we make them for grandparents and great-grandparents as well so we have multiple to stamp at a time. I clear off my kitchen island, and line all of the papers up in a row. I paint one of my toddler’s hands and gently press it on each paper, going right down the line. It makes it so much easier this way, it’s almost like an assembly line. She has a total blast doing it, too! If you have older toddlers or children and they can do it on their own, let them! At this stage I would have a huge mess on my hands so we take the cleaner route.

If you do have a younger toddler, it’s a good idea to take their shirt off before starting! Even though the paint is washable (thank goodness), I’d still rather not dirty a perfectly good shirt if I can help it. If it gets on my counters or floor, no big deal, it wipes right off!

3. Add Any Optional Items

Let both of your imaginations run wild and add fun items such as glitter or a googly eye on the dinosaur. Make this craft even more fun and let the sky be the limit! Whatever you have in your craft drawer is the perfect addition to this already adorable craft.

4. Let dry & Laminate

After letting your little ones masterpiece dry for at least a few hours, make it last by laminating your Father’s Day craft. Our favorite laminator can be found here and is so simple and easy to use. This is one of my favorite ways to preserve crafts for myself and our loved ones so we will be able to look back on them and cherish them for years to come.

5. Add Something Special

Gift to your child’s father/grandfather as is or add something special! Gift it along with a tie, a gift card, a new power tool, or gadget. The great thing about this craft is that it’s so special to give alone or pairs perfectly with any gift.

Father’s Day is an important day where we give an extra special “thanks” to all of the important fathers in our lives. The dads in our lives work so hard and protect us and all of the ones that we love and deserve to lay back, relax, and enjoy their day!

Something special handmade by a little one that he loves is such a gift and will be cherished for years to come.

This Father’s Day, give the dads in your life something special and unique and handmade just for them.

Happy crafting and happy Father’s Day!

XOXO,

Katie
