Finally, the weather is starting to get just a little bit warmer, and spring is on the horizon. With spring comes new beginnings and growth. Spring also brings a fun-filled holiday that is loved far and wide – Easter!
As a parent, one of the most heartwarming experiences is witnessing the sheer delight and excitement in your toddler’s eyes during the holidays.
There are so many things we love about Easter. Aside from attending church on Easter morning, we also do (a couple) Easter egg hunts! This is a beloved tradition that brings families together in a fun-filled adventure, no matter what age they are!

I have found some adorable, practical items that your 2-year-old will love finding in their eggs this Easter and some tips that will make their egg hunting go as smoothly as possible!

Easter egg hunts are a tradition cherished by families around the world. For toddlers, the excitement of searching for hidden treasures adds an extra layer of magic to the holiday. Opt for larger, brightly colored eggs that are durable and easy to spot. Jumbo Easter eggs are also better for putting tiny toddler treasures in! Many times, the regular-sized eggs are too small for toddler Easter items.
Consider Timing
Choose a time of day when toddlers are well-rested and alert, such as mid morning or late afternoon. If you can, avoid scheduling the egg hunt during naptime or close to mealtime to minimize distractions and ensure maximum participation and positive attitudes! This can be tough if you have a couple of egg hunts on the same day like we do. Do what you can and try to be flexible with your toddler!
Assign a Buddy
Assign older children or adults to assist younger toddlers during the egg hunt. This can help prevent accidents and ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to find eggs. This also makes for some great photos!

Now that you’ve planned the perfect egg hunt, it’s time to fill those colorful eggs with tiny surprises that will excite your little ones. Here are some creative ideas for Easter egg fillers that your tot is sure to love:
Miniature Toys
Fill eggs with small toys or trinkets that toddlers enjoy, such as toy cars, stuffed animals, or pop-it toys. Look for items that are safe and age-appropriate for young children.

This year I got these cute finger puppet bath toys to fill some of my daughter’s Easter eggs. There are also character-themed options as well like these baby shark, Mickey Mouse and friends, Blue’s Clues, and dinosaur finger puppets! Really, the options are endless with these and they are the perfect size to stick in an egg.
Puzzle Pieces
Create a fun Easter-themed puzzle by hiding different pieces inside separate eggs. The kids can then work together to assemble the puzzle once they’ve found all the pieces. This year I will definitely be doing this, I love this option for something different than the usual Easter egg fillers. This is a fun, educational, and interactive idea for toddlers on Easter!
Thankfully, Easter egg fillers come in no shortage in today’s day in age. You can find so many different great items and personalize it for your kiddo. From Easter-themed items, to their favorite character, to different snacks, to outdoor fun! Really, the possibilities are endless. As I said before, for most of the items listed above, you’ll want to get the jumbo eggs. A lot of these items would be too big for the normal-sized eggs. Many of the items listed do come pre-stuffed in eggs which is super cool too!
